Parts/Bench Stocking - IC's

Hello all.  I checked the Wiki for info on stocking my bench with IC's but didn't find any.  I was wondering, since there are tons of IC's available, which IC's are common in noise making pedals.  I'm looking to build pedals that are similar to the Wolf Computer, Glitch Computer, Fuzz Factory, and some of the more crazier DBA pedals.  Here is the list of IC's that I currently own:

TL071
TL072
NJM2043D
CD4049UBE
741

Well, some of those don't use IC's so I would suggest trying to figure what it does use first, then compile your list.

Roger that.  It looks like the Fuzz Factory uses a 78566, looks like the Wolf Computer doesn't use any IC's, not sure though about the others.

Any ideas then on how to research IC's to use?  Any basic starting points?

the fuzz factory is transistor,
here are all the ics used in my ic based pedals.
glitch computer
njm386d/4013cd/ua741cd
pitch pirate
njm386d/pt2399/tlo72 (or what ever duel opamp i have a lot of)
clarinot
njm386d/pt2399
and thats that.
its not so much the chips used that make things wild or noisy, just finding new ways to use them.

Don't waste your time, it sounds like cr4p! Build a silicone fuzz face with all the mods (voltage sag and bias...) and if you want it to fart put a feedback loop momentary switch: take the output back to the input with a pot between if you wish more control...It will oscillate and fart like crazy and you're gonna be able to tune the pitch with your guitar volume/tone control...Plus you're gonna have a fuzz that can sound descent at low setting.

Yep! That's what i got in mind. I've done that and it works good and sound better than the FF . If you want to make noise you should also consider the uglyface, a totally different beast...

I connected 2 Ge diodes w/ a 50k pot and a footswitch to the pre-volume-control output. more clipping will drop your volume, but can add a cool edge to the sound, along with more sustain...lol...if you really want more

you can also creatively place some caps to reduce the high-end fizz to get more of a vintage-y sound. I have a switch for that on mine, too
