Replacing my MJM Foxey Fuzz with a smaller DIY build

I am a big fan of the Big Muff sound. In the past, I have owned a green Sovtek Muff, a US reissue Muff, as well as an old DIY Muff I built (I think from a Tonepad PCB). None of them are as nice as my MJM Foxey Fuzz. However, this Foxey Fuzz is in a big clunky C-size box, and i'd love to have a B-size box version.

I've heard that the MJM Foxey Fuzz is based on the Guild Foxey Lady (which I see that GGG has a PCB for). I'm curious if anyone is familiar enough with the MJM Foxey Fuzz to know what Muff/Foxey Lady project and/or mods would achieve a similar sound?

The aspects of the MJM pedal that I like better than the muffs i've tried is the crunch I can get on a palm mute. Also, at higher gains, it does not get muddy, and just does the thick and smooth thing really well.

Thanks!

Why not open it up and see whats in there and then do your own layour to fit the size of box your looking for.
The Fuzz type of sircut is often not that complicated to do a backwards engineering on.

If you can demount the PCB and hold it up against a bright light (not too close to heat it) you can have an Xray of the tracks to compare with the parts layout on the topside and all of a sudden you are allmost there.

The only bad sounding stomp box is an unbuilt stomp box. ;-)

Yep, I will try to do that. I did take a look at it a few years ago. I was able to get a basic layout of it, but didn't get all the component values. I will give it another try.
