so i'm workin on the GGG si fuzz face.  i want to us a pot instead of the 1k trimmer pot so that i can adjust it w/o havin to open it up... how would i wire up the lugs?

With out looking at the schematic I would guess you're talking about the bias. Look up on the wiki or FAQ and it will show how to wire a pot as a variable resistor.

how would i wire up the lugs?
I would put a *4k7 on an outside potlug of *10k linear pot.
then wire the other side of the 4k7 / wiper of pot as collector resistor [adjustable between ~4k7 and ~14k7]...depending on the *R and *VR tolerances].
That generally accomodates misbias on both sides of the pot with a pretty good spread of 'good bais' options, making it easy to find/locate the sweet spots.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.
