Hi!
There's a new veroboard layout in my gallery: the Mike Matthews Soul Kiss. Inspired by the hilarious Youtube clip by Graemey, I had to try this one out. See for yourself:

This is a fun build, a simple circuit, lots of construction challenges. I really like the sound of this twin-T circuit, nice girth on the wah, good Q control. I made my hi/lo switch a hi/mid/lo and added a status LED as well. Operation is not that wonderful, though. First of all, you look like an ass, then there's the saliva problem...  :icon_eek:

Here's a pic:

There's a sound clip as well. Don't laugh at the playing, this is like riding one of those bicycles with inverted steering...

The schematic and more info can be found at the eminent website http://topopiccione.atspace.com

Lmao that is one of the strangest effects design ever, perhaps a more suitable way of using it could be devised to avoid the saliva but as you say an build with lots of construction challenges which adds a bit of interest.

Playing was pretty good though i must say there, especially for such an odd way of controlling a pedal,

Good work on the vero's once again Cathexis, keep them coming.

Heh, there's another clip on Youtube where some guy plays his with his foot (socks, no shoes). I guess you have to find a method and stick with it.  :icon_wink:

Technically, you could play this with your posterior, I suppose...  :icon_twisted:

Only if your good enough that people think the sun shines on your arse...

Yea a kinda wah probe workalike but light dependant so no use on a dark stage, Built in Shoe LED's ?  :icon_lol:

Thats cool
I was eyeballing that you tube vid a couple of days ago.
Thanks for the link to the schematic and PCB!! I saved them.

THANKS! I bought one from Mike Matthews himself. I should have kept it....

OK, I have to build this, looks like so much fun.
By construction challenges, do you mean the controller that goes in the mouth?

Scruffie

Pretty sure he does, looks like a simple enough build otherwise, just gettin something that you can easily put in your mouth and clip onto your guitar strap is probably the issue.

Yeah, that, and just the fact that this isn't your ordinary stompbox overall. Not challenges in a problematic way, more in a fun tinkerish way. I made this in an afternoon. I made my mouthpiece a lot larger than the original, 'cause I wanted to try using that 10mm lens on top of the LDR - I don't think it does anything more than make the mouthpiece look a little bit more "organic"  :icon_wink:, and it's a bit unwieldy. It was fun to try out various types of LDRs, but actually most worked pretty good, this circuit does not seem to be very sensitive in that way. I did not try any other opamps than the 5534, since I had it. I matched my cap pairs, just because I've noted better performance in auto-wah applications, not sure if it matters here.
