So i have this vintage Ibanez AD80 delay, worth something like a few hundred bucks, which my guitar teacher gave me, but he had it set up with one of those vintage DOD 20v power supplies that many years ago he had hardwired to the pcb. The limitations were that the cable was very short so i really couldn't utilize the pedal and i wasn't gonna run it on 2 batteries. So when i did the recent pt80 project and grew to better understand the usefulness of the voltage doubling/converting chips like the max1044 and icl7660 i ordered a couple extra and fashioned the little 9v to 18v charge pump circuit and fit it inside the ad80 and connected it, and it works great! meaning that i can now, through the use of one of those 1/8 inch adapters power my ad80 with the same supply as the rest of my pedals, with no hit on the performance--it's running on the specified voltage. I'm happy i was able to grasp the concept thanks to a link to RG's page on the charge pump chips and put it to use, and it was so easy. Thanks! I will post some pics when my camera battery is all charged up, which will be a little bit.

P.S. i realize normally someone--including me--wouldn't mod such a valuable pedal, but luckily i didn't drop the dough for it so there was no guilt. also i'm thinking about doing a comparison clip between the original ad80, and the pt80 i built, i know it won't mean much but just a good clip to further compare a real analog delay and one that attempts to simulate that sound, and better yet that exact pedal.
