I just saw this picture on viceland.com of the pedalboard of Joshua Third from The Horrors.
Love them or hate them (personally I love them), I just think it's great to see a larger known band who still DIY's his own stompboxes.  Their newest album has some really odd, My Bloody Valentine-ish guitar work on it.  Some of the tones on it are really quite spectacular.

Here's the article:

I like this line:

"A soldering iron, some chit-chat with the people at Maplins and some resistors and capacitors and transistors. Thanks to the internet there's a lot of bullshit about parts people need for pedals. They tell you that if it's 40 years old it will sound better. Unfortunately it's all bollocks. It's quite funny watching people spend £100 on something that costs tuppence."

yeah, I waited on posting this for a while because I thought some people might get a little mad that he was talking trash about mojo parts....

The Horrors played in the afternoon at the Field Day festival in London last Saturday. He had some very good fuzz tones, nice to know they were self-built!

Anyway, screw having a Burst Box and a mysterious coil on top of your amp - real DIYers have an oscilloscope!

He must have built himself a time-machine first, in order to travel to an era when anyone in Maplins knew anything more than the latest model of sat-nav.

Thanks to the internet I can build a fuzzbox that works.

Ha, that reminds of when I went into a local Radio Shack last year asking about some etchant to make pcb's and I got a lot blank stares..... until one guy popped out of the back that literally had tears welling up when I told 'em I was into building stuff. Turns out he was an electronics instructor at a local community college. An oddity to be found at a Radio Shack these days for sure!!!! Sorry about the off topic post but I had to share.

I'm pretty sure that his board in the pic was a temporary setup for recording purposes, and not what he actually tours with.  Note the machine off to the top left of the page  8)
