Nyquist Aliaser versions?

Hi, I really like the clips I've heard of the Nyquist Aliaser (I'm really into bitcrushing type effects).  I'd like to try and tackle one myself, however I have a couple concerns and was wondering if people could give me some advice.

a) I'm a total noob (3 pedals under my belt!) - and this looks a little more complicated than a Fuzz Face, Bazz Fuss or LPB2...  Is it too difficult for someone with little experience?

b) there's a CMOs and a JC version, which is better?  And are there vero layouts for both?

c) I've read a little bit about bleed problems with this pedal - has anyone figured out how to fix that?

Thanks!

Taylor

Try Nelson's Wolf Bagger - it has a gate so there's no bleeding. No vero layout that I know of, but you can have someone here make you a PCB of it. It's a good bit more complex than a Fuzz Face, but if you build it on a PCB and read all the debugging literature here, you should be able to make it work.

I've built the CMOS Aliaser and Colin/Experimentalists Anonymous's Sample Rate Reducer. Both have bleed, so I'd steer clear of them.

also, is this maybe an easier build:

???

It gets a similar result, although it's not vero (I tend to FAIL miserably at all perfboard attempts...  but maybe I could figure out a vero layout).

It's a bit simpler than the Wolf Bagger, but from looking at it I'd guess there's probably oscillator bleed. It's tough to dial that out, with the design, especially on vero or perf, where you end up with a lot of crosstalk. It's easier to just build a gate that silences the bleed when you're not playing.

I've never been into vero, but personally I'd do the Wolf Bagger with a PCB over the Bugcrusher on vero or perf. PM John Lyons, he'll hook you up with a PCB for a reasonable fee.
