Sparkle Boost Question

I built the Sparkle Boost from dragonfly's schematic. It sounds awesome! The only issue I have with it is this. When the volume pot is below 12 o'clock it cuts the volume instead of boost. All the boost is between 12 & 5 o'clock. It has more that enough volume boost, but I was wondering is it supposed to work like this?

That is how mine works, and I think that with a normal volume control, that is typical, because you are bleeding signal to ground.  The more you bleed to ground, the less boost you get.  Of course, this is top of my head...

Mine does the same thing but I never paid much attention to it since I "set & forget" that one.

...It's the booster at the end of my chain btw.  I love it.  Just enough dirt to keep it dirty when boosting.
