The boss CH-1 has a slight volume boost when engaged which is somewhat annoying in the effects loop. The Effect level can decrease the volume by removing effect but that is rather counterproductive.

Replacing the 1k's R60 and R62 would affect bypass as well.

What do you think before I dive in?

EDIT: Looks like re-house, TB mod, and an output resistor to ground. Oh if only it sucked so I could just throw it on the pile  :icon_cry:

When engaged the effect is added to the ever-present bypass (clean) signal so a volume increase cannot be avoided. I will jumper Q2 so the effect is always on and add a TB switch. Next the 1K output resistor will be replaced with a 2K pot to balance the E. Level pot setting.

Not a big fan of switches sticking out of factory boxes so I will re-box it, jumper out Q1, and remove the useless output B. Q1 bounces the clean signal to output B.

If I can find the right pot I might jumper the E. Level pot and add a mix pot between Q1 and Q2. I'll let you know what I end up with.

I did the TB and thought while waiting for a pot I might as well swap out C5, C10, C19, C30, and C37 ceramic caps for film I had on hand. While playing distorted leads I could occasionally hear little annoying high frequency distortions typical with pedals of this type but no more since the cap swap. I ordered caps for C2 and C20 the remaining ceramics and a 1uF to replace an electrolytic.

I decided against a new box and put the new pot where output B was. A now unused part of the board with a 4.7K made a good power source for the led.

So now whatever the E Level setting the trim can easily restore unity.

I also discovered regular printer paper, acrylic, and rubber cement works much better for me then transparent decals.
