Modding a volume pedal to pan

Hi all,

I'm looking at getting some more use out of my Ernie Ball Mono Volume Pedal. I'd like to mod it with a switch that would turn it in to a pan pedal. Could this easily be done? I'm happy to reuse the "tuner out" for a second out, since I never use it and the switch can just be a small internal switch.

Anyone done this or has an idea if it's easily doable?

Thanks,

I'll answear my own question ... would probably be easier if I had a stereo volume pedal  :icon_frown: .

Most volume pedals have a pot in them.  The input goes to lug 3, the output is lug 2, and lug 1 is grounded.  You might have to change the pot value, and buffering might be a good idea since you'll be splitting up your signal, but basically, if you connect lug 1 to another output jack instead of ground, it will act as a passive mixer/panner.

Thanks for the answear. Should I buffer the input (which already has a buffered pedal before it) or each of the outputs?

So maybe I can just change out the pot (for this dual one). I assume they are wired "opposite". One pot increas to one output while the other decrease to the other.

Thats for a stereo volume pedal; as in, controling 2 volumes at once.  To pan you only need one pedal. But like I said, you might have to change the value of the pot.  I'd try a breadboard first.

And if you have buffered effects before and after you don't need to buffer it.
