Has anyone had one of their pedals anodized? I'm wondering if shops will do such a small job and how much it will cost.

its not ACTUALLY anodized, but I had PPP brush finish the aluminum before they painted with transparent red anodized...

it looks better in person.  its for a British Channel, so I wanted it to be like the face-plates of the new AC30's...

I was just quoted a $50 flat fee from a local shop. Granted they deal mostly with much larger batches but I told him the dimensions of the enclosure.  :icon_eek:

Anodizing doesn't usually work with cast aluminum.  Sheet aluminum is fine though.

I think anodized enclosures would be way cool. But they would probably have to be made from stamped & folded aluminum stock instead of a casting.

Here's an interesting DIY anodizing page: http://coloured.net/designresources/anodize.html

aziltz, your box looks great!
Please tell me how do you make this effect.

Thanks

Pedalpartsplus...  They have an option to "Brush Finish" the enclosure before painting.  I chose "anodized red transparent" but they also have blue.

all in all, it was about $15 since it was a custom drill job as well...   doing it yourself, try rough sandpaper in one direction?  i'm not completely positive how to do it

its not a very "smooth" surface, nor is it glossy.  its very flat, but the detail is killer.

Here's a cool method from AMZ with translucent paint Duplicolor Metalcast :

This Purple anodized came in a spray can from Kragen's Auto Parts. I buffed the Al box to a shiny condition first and wiped
it down with Naptha prior to spraying.

Yes, that is a king hell knob made of Bakelite in the foreground! It has the GE logo in the center.
