Flipster for R&B?

I have a bass-playing friend asking for "that nice fat mid range r&b sound" in a build.

I thought of the ROG Flipster as a possible candidate.  I unfortunately, am not a bass player, and I'm not that familiar with the Flipster, or R&B, etc...

I do know that the SVT has a nice edge to it and the Flipster is similar, like a preamp and not really an overdrive.

Can anyone recommend the Flipster for this application or steer me towards a different design?  Thanks.

what sort of r&b are you talking?

i personally don't tend to associate svt's and flex's with r&b, but then i tend to do more modern stuff.

also, what sort of bass and rig is he using right now?

i don't have any of that info.  there's my dilemma.  he also asked for an envelope filter, so I was thinking Motown or Funk, but I could be way off.
