I"m working on it. Here is a short demo where I run through some settings. Main purpose was to see how my phone mic sounds on video. Pretty bad, but it might give an impression.

Enjoy..

Thanks, I'll do a proper demo when it's done.

hey Im totally loving this info - how did it end up?

~arph

Pretty good, there are some  more videos on my youtube channel.

Galego

You'll you ever share the final schematic?

Brymus

Yes Arph started another thread on this and posted updated vids and IIRC he shared his schematic as well.
Just search Arphs posts or the threads to find it.
It sounds amazing ,he did a version of Pink Floyd's "Lucifer Sam" at my request.
I'm no EE or even a tech, just a monkey with a soldering iron that can read, and follow instructions. ;D

I did not post the schematic yet.. It's still a bit messy, lots of separate pieces lying around.
I'm willing to share them, but I want them to be presentable and understandable. I just need a lot of time for this, there is so many other stuff getting in the way.

There is also a lucifer sam mp3 with a more representable sound than youtube..

it's here:   http://www.friedair.com/audio/echodeck1.mp3

I will answer any questions for you though, so feel free to ask if things are unclear.

Galego

I think answering my questions would be more work than sorting out the schematic.  :icon_lol:

Hey guys, I'm not really a pedal DIY'er--but i stumbled onto this thread.  I'm the guy with the echorec and made the youtube vid.  Very cool that you guys figured this out.

Is anyone making these to sell?  I am trying to find something that does what my binson does--without having to deal with the maintenence, temperment, etc. (aka something non mechanical).

I really like the look of the one that ~arph did.  Great job!!

Thanks for the kind words!

As for modern equivalents, I'm not aware of any..  Some that come close are the akai headrush and the strymon stuff.. though they both still sound digital to me.

Cheers,

i can dial in a pretty close setting with the El Capistan.  it is by far the best tape sim i've tried.  but it doesn't do the swell mode--nothing really does.  the headrush and echolution can do something similar--but it's really not the same.  the headrush (from what i remember) steps down too much with each series of repeats so it feels really stilted.  the echolution seems to do something weird with the multi-taps so each successive series of repeats gets all bit-crushed sounding.  i'm not a technical guy--as you can tell.

I'm thinking in a good switching using cd4066 and a pic to control everything... with the possibilitie of having some sets on memorie... this thread it's a good revival for my electronic days :)

Any progress on this or the possibility of buying pre fabbed boards for this? Possibly Madbean? Im pretty sure these would sell quite well!

I'd be interested in hearing the project with some BBDs also. Though it'd be a lot more complex. Great work btw is the schematic floating out there anywhere ?

mth5044

I have used several PCB's for mine. Some for heads, mixing, switching, etc. I also don't have a good schematic ready as I haven't finished making mine yet.

I haven't heard anything from ~arph about this in a while, but he's been putting out a lot of other good stuff so I don't think he's been working on this (conjecture!).

PS ~arph, I finally got the switching to work  'learned' how to use a picaxe in combination with 4066's and transistors for the LED's. It's a miracle.

Nice to see there is still interest. Haven't put a lot of work into this no. I have it open at my desk as I have been reprogramming the button interface. Might redo that a a whole though. I also need to rework the mixer part a Iittle. But all on the long term..
