haha, jacobjyd, you're killing me.
:icon_biggrin:

I've heard that Josh has golden ears, and can not only tell exactly how many DS-1's were used in series or parallel on a particular track, but also how each one was set and what mods were used - all just by listening to the first note of the solo. He can also recite Pi to 300 decimal places and play cymbals with his knees.  Though i wish he would stop PMing me about his Burst Box mods. :icon_lol:

Check out the image on the Tonefreq blog.  The caption reads, "Aljon Go tweaks a pedal while the legendary Seymour Duncan demos the World's Largest Pedalboard. Photo by Gabe Hernandez."  Mr. Duncan's probably thinking to himself, "Damn!  And all along I thought the magic was in my pick-ups."   ;D

Holy mackerel! That's a lot of pedals, on the world's largest "pedalboard".

Baktown

This reminds me of Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush back in the 70's.  Frank had a pedal board that took up at least half of the stage area.

Also, Seymour Duncan is running all these to a Line 6 amp.  Why would he need pedals if playing an amp loaded with digital effects?  LOL

Rick, you flatter me. I'll stop sending you those burst box mods though...sorry if they keep blinding you with their raw, unbridled awesomeness. Sorry you can't hack it. Go back to your lowly perfboard.

On topic...this thread is WORTHLESS without sound clips. I'm serious.

I would think that it would sound like crap. Imagine how bad the tone sucking would be going thru all those pedals and all the cables connecting them all..

actually with the right setup cable and buffer wise you could probably pull it off, though it would be quite difficult. With a booster/gate every ten pedals or so you would probably be fine. It can be done. And as far as I know they dont turn them all on at once. heck most noise musicians dont turn on twenty or more pedals on at once. I am only guessing tho. BTW Pete Cornish is one of the premier Gear gurus of the past fifty years or so. he teched for Brian May, Andy Summers and David gilmour. his niche though, is making all your existing effects and incorporating them into to one pedal board unit. Every pedal is built into its own loop with a preamp buffer system that makes it sound as if every pedal was plugged directly into the front end of your amp. Google his site and you can see his stuff. he is an amazing builder of pedals as well. his circuits are said to be completely noise free without using gates or suppressors.

If that thing is intended to be actually used, I think it would have to either a Bradshaw-esque or MIDI switching system, or have a number of separate loops to be used as a kind of crude preset device. There is no way those pedals are all just strung together in series or can possibly be used simultaneously. Not even as a stunt. Of course all this begs the question of why to use pedals at all--you can't possibly stomp them all.

I've concluded that with that amount of gain, you would just get feedback and oscillation no matter what. I was laying awake thinking/fantasizing about it...but when I realized that, I could sleep.   :)  Everyone should try stringing every pedal you have and can muster together and turn them all on....at least once.  Even if you have only just 143 DS-1s, it will still be fun   :D
Breadboard it!

Looks like there's a fair few buffered pedals in there, so providing they're spread out amongst the true bypass ones tone sucking wouldn't be that much of a problem.

As for playing it I'd get a load of trained chimps, give them each a pedal and rig up some sort of reward based switching system. If you got really fancy you could even get them to twiddle knobs for you for even finer control.

And given enough time, those chimps would hammer out the collected works of Shakespears Sister.

Yeah, Pete Cornish or a similar guru could work around the limitations. But no one out there uses that many pedals. It looks to me like just a novelty.

much like Chuck Norris, the ds-1 is full of awesome wonder and can get out of hand! Too many ds-1's is a power we shouldn't take too lightly! With the best buffer in the biz, 147 of them ran together might just cause the world to implode.......but chuck norris already knew that :-\
When your life is over, will any of this STUFF really matter?
