Noise when in bypass?

I built a couple stripped down Tube Screamer clones. Basically the YATS or CJOD lite.

I get a squeal when in bypass Mode. When the tone knob is at max.
I used the basic DPDT wiring. If I wired it with the circuit input grounded like BYOC and GGG use, will the bypass squeal go away?
Or something else?

Hmm... are you sure that you have that wired correctly? I would try using a grounded circuit input true bypass wiring scheme and see if that fixes the problem.

Yeah I was asking if the different switch wiring would most likely work before I tried.
Seems to me it would as any circuit noise is grounded when bypassed, right?

Right.

switch sounds like the first thing to try, but before you go undoing all of your hard work, do a test first maybe?

put the effect into bypass mode and turn the tone knob to make the tube screamer 'scream'. short a bit of wire from earth to the signal input connection on the board or switch. i'd be interested to see if that fixes the problem for you.
Blood, Sweat & Flux. Pedals made with lasers and real wires!

My Eternity clone (bufferless tubescreamer) had a lot of squeal with a standard dpdt/millenium 2 when bypassed, so I ended up switching to an input grounded switching and it worked great. So you can either go with your dpdt with the millenium 2 plus mods that ground the input or easier would be a 3pdt in place of it, assuming you still want the LED.  I'm getting a tiny delay on the mill 2+ , hopefully will work out a fix for that with RG's help.

I'd be very suprised if grounding the circuit input in bypass mode didn't work.

Yes it worked. I should wire all things like that. Just haven't had the problem before.

Yay! Thanks for letting us know.
