I was supposed to have hosted this a while back.
The file is nearly 5MB and I could not transfer
it via my measly dial-up connection.
At any rate here you go.

Modded Univibe Project AKA ForumVibe

In the PDF are "vintage" and "modern" schemtatics and layouts
for the univibe. The Modern version incorporates several
modifications for tweaking out the circuit.

As stated in the PDF, this is not for the beginner.
There are a lot of subtleties and AC power involved.
The circuit sounds great, Enjoy!

JC Malliet (Eb7+9)  (tweaks and know how)
Brad Burt (Red House) (made the layout and great PDF workup.)

I concur.  Very nice thorough work.

Any doofus like me can take somebody's schematic, tweak it, and post some mods without the full follow-through.  Thorough, detailed complete project documents like the one John posted are one of the real joys of this site and this community.  Just wanted to let you know that the "extra mile" is truly appreciated and commendable.

Wow, that is outstanding. Thank you for posting this. There is certainly a lot of hard work put into that document.

PS: You can use PDF995 or PrimoPDF (both are free) to avoid that watermark on pg. 1.

Thanks fellers!
But honestly all the work was done by Brad on the PDF project.
I just hosted it. (and quite tardy at that).

I agree, the project is quite thourough and nicely done.

Looks like an awesome project. Any diagrams anywhere with the offboard wiring ?

Thanks, Dan

John Lyons

All of the off board wiring is in the PDF.
The only thing that's not in there is the
AC to DC conversion. But you can find that
most anywhere. Tonepad, GGG, Geofex...
Look for Power supplies etc.

Forgot to mention that I can make
PCBs for this board for $15 shipping included.

 Hello, guys!

I've tried to order making of PCB for me at the local PCB maker (he did perfect work for me before and a lot of other people uses his services, so he's probably very good at this) by sending him link to PDF and pointing him to page 5. But he refuses to use this picture as an master, because it's blurred - and it really is, edges seems to be antialiased or something.

Did you use this image as an master, John?

Is there any chance to get same image without antialiasing applied (preferably in 1200DPI)?

Thanks, T.

1200dpi!
I print mine at 300dpi and they are sharp.
Any transfer or photographic process will
be fine at 300 dpi.
Many boards have been made with this image.
Just change the resolution if you need to...

I don't know what exactly happened there (I was not there, we've been communicating via email), but he just stated that picture was so blurred when printed via Acrobat Reader, that it would lead to bridging between traces! When I tried it at office printer it seemed OK to me (nice&sharp), so maybe it was not about edge anti-aliasing, maybe there was another problem at his place.. Luckily I was able to extract picture from the PDF and do some post-processing, now he's happy.

About 1200DPI: monochrome (2-color) picture in 1200PDI does not eat much more space that 256 color pic in 300DPI (as the one in the PDF) and for b&w laser printer it may be more feasible, but I agree that in the end (on etched board) it may not make any difference :)

Thanks, T.

Hi.
I 've found an error on the pdf: on page 24, the 'alternate bias connection' drawing is wrong, the jumper shorts the bulb. I think it should connect the upper pad with the bottom pad, not the middle one...
Thanks, and excuse my bad english.

Greg M.

I know I'm probably missing something obvious, but when I open the PDF I don't see any offboard wiring and there are only 14 pages total.  Shouldn't there be a parts list as well?  Can someone help a blind man see here  :-\?

Greg M.

I found the link in a YouTube video.  I see all that missing stuff now  :icon_biggrin:.

John Lyons

I'll reload the files on my server under the same address...not sure what happened there.
Sorry guys...

This is excellent! Re the photocells, please note that the ones that Mouser used to carry as the 338-54Cxx series were pulled from their catalog some years back, and the stock I had is gone. The good news, as the author points out, is that there are many alternates still being made, by Silonex and others. He mentions the NSL-7530 in my Stock List; I also have the NSL-5152. For a number of still less-expensive choices, check out my SKU 2506A. Based on the requirements in the PDF and my tests in the Neovibe, #9200 or #9203 should be fine.
