What project do you consider a "must-build"?

Hi guys, just got my project slate all cleared, so now I am in the market for some more builds.  Thus I put the question to the forum:

What do you consider a "must-build" project?  To give you an idea of my situation, I have never built a Big Muff, Rat, Fuzz Face, Rangemaster, Orange squeezer, etc.  I have built several projects, just not some of the more ubiqutous ones.  I plan on doing a Fuzz Face (Si) and an Orange Squeezer, but what other builds have you been particularly pleased with or what ones do you think no person should live without?  (If Adriano stops by, I know he will say Valvecaster :icon_biggrin:).

Anyway, I just want to see what some of you say are must-haves (I tried searching, but couldn't find a very similar topic) and maybe lots of people will find this discussion beneficial.

And as usual we see that a "recommend me a pedal" question is about to turn into "recommend every pedal" . Happens every time  ;D.

14 distortions already. Wow.

+1 on the Tremulus Lune.  I never knew all a tremolo could be until I built one.

Also, I have to agree on the big muff, such a classic sound, everyone should own/clone one.

That's for sure, my friend!!! I tried it in different situations and always enjoyed...

I'd like to add...
Tillman and the great Dragonfly's Sparkle boost as boosters
RAT as distortion
Rebote 2 as Delay
Si Fuzz Face as Fuzz

If you want some classic tones, the Ibanez TS808 and the ROG English Channel.

punkin

BSIAB2
Mockman 2.0
Vox Tonestack (I really like this as a switchable/optional tonestack in just about anything).
PepperShredder
Ernie Ball Music Man - JPM, THD Univalve, Grace Big Daddy, PepperShredder, BSIAB2, FireFly Amplifier.

Scruffie

Depends on your style but Dr Boogey or English Channel are amazing disortions
Keeley Java Boost (just cause it has more options than an Rangemaster)
Tone Bender Mk II... Classic...
I'd go with the Ross Comp rather than the Orange Squeezer
An Boss SG-1 might be an interesting pedal
Tremulus Lune is awesome...

Or if your going outside the norm

ADA Flanger... and build me one while your at it  :icon_wink:
Or one of the Various Chorus Pedals (Small clone, clone theory or CE-2)
An Phase with Lots of Stages...

Anything by Tim Escobedo.

I agree. His circuits are really cool to study and make some fun sounds with generally low parts counts.

A power supply containing at least two +9's and a -9, each with two outs and a chain of 4 or 5 plugs each. Then splitters ,loopers and a small mixer to bring it all home.
Monkey see, monkey do.

Everybody needs an envelope-controlled filter.  Doesn't really mater which one, though some are more trouble-free builds than others.  It changes the way you think of your playing.  A real good kick in the seat of the pants.

I'd have to agree that a good power supply (also custom built for your needs but as future-proof as possible) is the closest thing to a "must-build". You might also look into switchers/loopers, buffers, preamps, noise gates and reducers, mixers and other such "utility" builds (if they suit your needs, of course).
