Clipping arrangement

Hi All,

Was playing around with some clipping the other day and discovered the following arrangement...

'Send' side (diode towards ground).

Signal in from booster -> 2K2 Resistor -> Ge Signal Diode -> 220nF Cap -> Ground   ... and on the 'return' (from ground back to the output signal)...
220nF Cap -> Ge Signal Diode -> Signal from booster.

Both Diodes at the 'ground' end are connected together, *then* go to ground through the cap.

This gave a distinctive sort of sound - quite different from the usual Symmetrical / Asymmetrical arrangements.

Just wondering if anyone else out there has tried this.

Have not tried this.

You noted "distinctive sort of sound" -- in a good way?  Any sound clips?

Am curious on the function/effect of the cap there...

you´re basically clipping frequencies above 330hz (2k2, 220n low pass filter).. should give you a less buzzy clipping with cleaner low end.

you can make the same with only 1 cap between the diodes and ground.

Could you put a pot (like the input cap blend from the Easy Face) and have a kind of "fine-tuning bass frequency flabbiness" knob?

I guess so.

You could call it 'Cellulite'...
