Guitar Voltage. (how to measure?)

Passive pickups are just coils with magnets, right?

But how can you measure what voltage your pickup produces?

Off course, by just putting a voltmeter or oscilloscope at the output.  ;D

keep in mind also that the first milliseconds of a strum produce a MUCH higher voltage to when the string settles down half a second later. if you can use a digital scope get it to sample at a second and then trace back to read the initial strum too (:
