hi, been looking everywhere for tips on this but cant seem to find anything but the origional schematic which doesn't reallt help, iv soldered all the components and made the pcb etc, im just wiring the switch etc in now, iv soldered the pots for volume and gain, two things im not sure on are how to wire the footswitch i have bought and also when i bought the jacks (guy at maplins got all the parts ready for me) and theyre both mono (should one be stereo?) and also how do i know the live and earth? theres like 2 lugs on one side conected to two on the other side, one has a small raised Dot in it. any help would be massivley apprechiated, iv tried elsewhere but can't find anyone whos built one and has the instructions and this is my first pedal build,
thanks in advance!

The Black Cat OD-1 was also my very first build. I had some of the same questions as you when I started. There is a lot of good info in the FAQ section here. I learned a lot just by reading that before I ever built anything.

For the bypass switching, see this PDF here that I made: http://www.diyguitarist.com/PDF_Files/GCI-TrueBypass.pdf - any one of the wiring schemes shown would work for your circuit.

I hope that helps...

In my own build, I tried a lot of different opamps. I couldn't really hear much of a difference between any of them. I liked it with a KA358, an NTE chip and the OP275. I like it best with the OP275.

They are more or less the same thing - they are both JFET opamps. The OP275 just has a "Butler frontend" on it.

I don't know who sells them. I actually got some free samples from Analog Devices, that's how I got mine. I don't know if they still do that, but you can check out their website - http://www.analog.com/en/index.html

On the volume controls in the other post, it's saying to switch the connections at lugs 1 & 3. If you don't, your volume control will work backwards.
