I've been looking at oscilloscopes and I came across this, the Digimess 10MHz single channel oscilloscope. It comes in at about £140. Has anybody got any experience with it? I can't really justify spending a lot more than this. Let me know what you think. There is a datasheet for it on the Digimess site: http://www.digimess.co.uk/datasheet/english/Digimess%20MOseries.pdf

Seams like alto for a single channel scope, I personally wouldn't want it for the fact that it only has 1 channel. You cant make phase measurements with it and for that price I would recommend this scope for pc's.

http://www.easysync-ltd.com/ Granted you need a computer for this but its 2 channel and has FFT and Phase analysis built into the software. Acquiring that outside of the US is a different matter, but well worth looking into.

Our hearing range is obviously much less than 10Mhz. Would that bandwidth work for all audio-based gear/projects needs though?

Yep, not really need more then a 100K scope, but the higher the frequency the better quality scope you get.

Definitely!

I also agree that it's way to much for a scope that offers so little.

I would go the ebay route. That's what I did. Ended up with a Three channel 100 MHz with built in trig funtions. More than I will ever need as far as funtions. Not to boast, but snaged this puppy up for $95.00 USD and paid $35.00 for shipping. Only needed to put feet on it that I bought from mousers.

Since I've breadboarded it I can only blame myself.

But It's Just A Chip!

Wow, now that's a steal. I run an O-scope I wrote with NI DAQ software I use from work, It don't get any more powerfull then this for the price (Free), I currently have a 10 channel fast I/O board and an analog 4 out 4 in. But its way fun to actually write the test procedures. Only real problem with this software and hardware is its hela expensive and you end up spending more time writing apps insted of designing circuits and playing guitar lol. I also do own the 2 channel ez-sync o-scope/signal genorator, its a bad ass unit for the price. The best part of it is you can store the data and come back and look at this stuff in excel and such. Great for testing the speed of components and transient responces.

Also on a side note the model number is DS1M12, its called a data logger, my link wont take you straight to it just google the part number and you will see what I am talking about. You cant beat this one for the price of $230 US

I use Grundig digimess funcion generator AFG100. Great for my job.

If you like to use scope for audio it's better to have 2 channel scope up to 20-60Mhz, because sometimes there is high frequency pscillations. This can be see in high quality and high frequency opams.
I preffer to take some old analog tektronix scope. Build like a tank.
