Help with balky Ibanez switching

I just took my old Ibanez CP9 chorus out of storage and I'm having trouble with the fet switching. The pedal works fine when on, but gives a quiet and distorted signal when switched off.  Any ideas?

The post I'm about to make borders on unhelpful, but I'm sure someone will respond with more technical info.  You could use a looper to bypass the chorus for now.
