Anyone have a source for clear control knobs? I'm finding plenty of the split shaft (Gibson and Fender) types but nothing with set screws.

Thanks,

Sorry, I couldn't find anything either.
Your best bet would be to get some lucite rod, slice it into knob-size pieces, drill a shaft hole and then drill and tap your own set screw hole.
Heck, if you do a good job on 'em I bet they'd sell pretty good!

xotic is using a davies style clear knob, but davies also does custom stuff, so it might be unavailable to us.

If anyone knows how to make molds, maybe they could be made from acrylic resin. If I didn't have so many projects going, I'd consider doing it.

As for mold making it's become alot easier with something called vinamold or it might be vynamold, which suggets it's a vinyl. It's like silicon in its ability to be cast in blocks but its beauty is that it can be reused by heating it up and it goes liquid again so can be repoured. You get it from fibreglass supply outlets... same place you'd buy your resin. Oh when in its solidified state it's also kinda malleable so you can do undercuts and stuff. Quite cheap too, compared to one shot silicons. Similar to the price of latex but far superior.
Monkey see, monkey do.

Have a search in surplus store, they were more used back then.

What do you have in mind? I had these:

made on spec awhile ago, and they have sold fairly well. I can get other designs done. Minimum is usually about 2,000 pieces, which is not an unreasonable commercial risk if I think the design you want is likely to appeal to others. Talk to me...

I was getting ready to say this. I got some acrylic resin to use as a clear coat and was considering trying to get some molds and make my own knobs.

It would be cool if you could match clear knobs with led pots http://www.alphapotentiometers.net/html/9mm_pot_w_led_1.html  :icon_wink:

The clear davies style knob on this xotic effects stompbox looks really fun, as far as opening doors to lighting it up with an LED in some fashion or continuing a design on the face of a pedal underneath the knobs:
