Which are the differences between Maestro Stage Phaser and Maestro Phaser MP-1?

Hello,

I've just fallen in love with Maestro Stage Phaser after I've seen this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEVGqDBGCHY.

After a serious search I found his schematic: http://www.aronnelson.com/DIYFiles/up/maestro_stage_phasor_MPP-274A.pdf...and it seems very complicated to me...if I understood well the CA3094 must to be replaced with some LM13600/13700 because there are very rare now (anyway, for sure I can't find them in Romania!).

After others searches I found the schematic (and, on another site, a complete project!!!) for Maestro Phaser MP-1: http://www.aronnelson.com/DIYFiles/up/maestro_phaser_MP-1.pdf.

The schematics seems to be similar (six stage both) and the rotative switch from the Maestro Stage Phaser seems to affect only the speed.

So, my question is: can anyone confirm (or infirm!) that both sounds (almost) the same?

Thx a lot!

Hi,

I own a MP-1 and it sounds very similar to the stage phaser but not exactly the same. The MP-1 does not fade out the effect when turning it off, it turns it off instantly.

Overall, from the youtube video, I would say the stage phaser sounds a little better, although quite similar.

Thx a lot isildur100!
I will build a MP-1 sooner and, if I will have some time, I will try to make a PCB for Stage Phaser.

No problem!

I really love the mp-1, it's different from the other phasers I have tried. Tell us when you finish your build.

cheers

Do you have a sounclip with it?

I will try to make one. I just finished my condor cab sim and it will be a good occasion to try recording through it.  :)

Thx a lot...without thinking that I am totally unmannered (sorry for my poor English) can I beg you to try some settings like in the Maestro Stage demo from youtube?  :icon_rolleyes:

Hi there,

Sorry, was struggling with the condor cab sim these last days. I did a sound sample of the MP-1 for you. It's a bit too long maybe but I just improvised and tried all sorts of settings with the thing. I did not use the condor, I used a mic in front of my cheap Peavey amp. I am using a strat through a highly modified valvecaster, then through the MP-1.

So here goes:

While playing with the MP-1 I realized that it is not as good as the stage phaser. But it is still a fun pedal ;)

Thx a lot isildur100!!!
You've play very nice and the tone is good...anyway, at the first "sight", it sounds me very well, better than Small Stone or Ross Phaser...if you will want sometime to sell it tell me please :)

Thx a lot again!

No problem gigi!

By the way, there is a clone of this pedal called Der Meister-Phaser. I can't post the link because it is not permitted to post links to the "other" forum.

Check it out!

cheers
