Howdy-
Anybody know mouser/digikey/jameco part number for headers w/covers?  I've been digging through the catalogs for these companies & have found plenty of headers but can't find ones with covers.  BTW, it's for opto option 4 for the Neutron.
Thanks!

Not sure what you mean by "with covers" but Futurlec carries headers in a pretty good selection.

A header is a plastic protective cover that goes over the 14-pin header--in this case, its function is to keep light out.

Try this for Digikey:

http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=A107-ND

Spec sheet:

http://www.arieselec.com/products/12033.pdf

In the spec sheet, it says that the part number is XX-650-XX where the first "XX" is the number of pins on the header, and the second "XX" is "10" for a height of .125", "20" for a height of .375", "30" for a height of .5" and "40" for a height of .750".  I personally would use of height of .125 or .375.  So,
search on keyword "14-650-10" or "14-650-20" and you'll find your headers.  It's steep at $2.52 a piece but both the 10 and 20 are priced the same.

You may want to consider getting the taller one and lining the inside with shiny foil.  Hope this helps.

"A header is a plastic protective cover that goes over the 14-pin header..."

DOH!!!!!!!!! Circular definition   :icon_mrgreen:

I meant to say that a header is basically the opposite of a socket: instead of having holes for pins in a DIP package, each pin turns into a fork where you can solder wires or components.  The cover protects the header, and in this particular application, it keeps light out so as not to interfere with the LED / LDRs combination.

I'm sorry for any confusion that may have caused.
