DUY1337GUITAR

well after figuring that I wired the 3PDT the wrong direction (>.<), I began to try biasing by ear.  Not that I had high hopes or anything, I'm planning to buy a multimeter soon, but i don't know if what's happening with my build is going correctly.  While biasing the jFETs, I got signal (kinda low volume) and  I get farty velcro guitar noises anywhere I adjust the trimpot.  There's also a lot of hum which is affected by the trimpots.  Is this normal and that I have to bias everything exactly correct, or is there something wrong  with my perf?  I used Xavier's perf layout but my trimpots took up more space lengthwise so I had to adjust some stuff.  Getting really skeptical about this thing, but I don't want to debug today, been doing too much work.

thanks in advance!

I might not always be right, but I'm never wrong....

well it can sound crappy if you set one trimpot very far from the sweet spot. Try setting them all at 30-40% and then adjusting them one by one. In my build they were all between 20k and 40k IIRC

I seen your perf in your other thread.

Start again would be my advice. That perf will be a nightmare to debug. Wire the trim pots off the board if they wont fit the perf layout or redo the perf layout for the compoments you have.
