So i really want to build the maestro ring mod http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/diagrams/maestro_ring_mod_sc.gif
And http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=69517.0 says to use a ad633 which i can get from futurelec
But the ad633 http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/70629.pdf is 8 pin while the 1495 is 16 pin
is the chip the same but without the pins that aren't being used (3?,5,6,7,10,11,),
well i know there not the same i just want to know which pins will go where,
i also have a lm13700 and can order 1496 but i hear its not a direct replacement
any help will be awsome thanks!

Going to an MC1496 would require an extensive redesign of the heart of the circuit, as would the LM13700. Neither of these devices are true four-quadrant multipliers either. The AD633, while not a pin-compatible replacement, will work fine once you get the device outputting at the same level as the 1495 does. I'm pretty sure some quick searching will lead you to somebody else who has tackled this problem before.

I believe Jameco in San Francisco sells the MC1495- it's what I used in my Maestro Ring Mod build. $10, but worth the hassle not to have to change the circuit around to accomodate another chip. The AD633 is a colder sound as well.
