does ferric chloride work on material that has been chromed?
it's not a BURST BOX  it's a circuit box with burst button...

Hi there, yes it does. I use it on chromed guitar hardware for customers who want a relic finish applying to their guitars.

Best Wishes.

Woz.

i had the piece sitting in the etchant for 40 minutes. still has bright and shiny as it was before i dropped it in. is there some different way of preparing chromed metal for etching that i'm missing?

solved the problem. there was some sort of finish on top of the chrome. once i did some rubbing and scrubbing it came right off and etched perfectly.

I used my wifes chrome tongs to lift boards out of ferric chloride and they tarnished pretty good :icon_lol:
