Voltage Doubler / Charge Pump for 18V Dunlop EQ??

I've been powering my Dunlop EQ (M-108) by combining two 9v outputs on my Voodoo Labs power supply. I'd like to free up one of those outputs and was reading about voltage doublers. Most of what I found involved using these to give more headroom to boosts and other pedals that normally operate at 9v. How well would they work to provide 18V to a pedal that actually requires it?

I used one of these with success in an OCD:

I've also used one of these for a distortion/boost with a quad opamp:

I think you can use the (newer, cheaper) LT1054 with the first vero layout.  But you have to cut the track between pin 1 & pin 8 and bring in the +9V to pin 8 from the right side of the board.

Never had experience with the second link, but the MAX1044 layout works well for delievering the voltage.. I've never had it get to exactly 18V but I think the last one I did was measureing 17.6V.

I checked the current draw and it appears to be about 20mA. I also have the option with my power supply of providing 12vdc input.
