Just finished a build on vero board (using the "commonsound" vero layout). All components seem to be in place correctly but I am getting a loud buzzing when the effect is engaged. It seems to change in frequency slightly with the pulsing of the led. If I turn up the speed, the buzzing oscillates quicker and the same for turning the speed down. Also, the led seems to flash as it should when the effect is off, but when I turn it on it changes the way it flashes slightly. When switched on, the LED (the one on the enclosure) stopped going completely out, but just got very dim.

I might get sound when switched on, but the buzzing is REALLY loud and I wouldn't be able to hear the guitar over it anyway. Oh, and if I turn down the trim pot all the way down, the buzzing goes away but I still get no guitar signal.

Any ideas? Anything else to check specifically that might help?

And here is the VERO layout I used. I checked it against the schematic as well as I could and all looked good.

That trimpot is used to set the output volume to balance it with the "off" setting.
Did you build it in yet, or is it just a bunch of parts?Did you connect both input and output grounds?

Yes, the circuit is built just like the vero layout. I have also checked for solder bridges and cannot seem to find any. All the electro-caps are positioned the correct way, according to the vero. I used all the components listed in the parts list as well. I will take a look at all the offboard wiring and double check that again. I didn't do anything different than usual though and I get sound with the effect bypassed.

I am really having an issue with this one. I have built 3 other pedals and all have worked first try. I guess it is good learning experience having to troubleshoot though. A

Well, mine worked fine but stopped working properly when I built it in the enclosure. Turns out the pulsing led needs to be connected to the correct pads on the pcb, while I had it connected in series with the vactrol.
Maybe try without pulsing led?
