Dr Boogey...which layout is the best?

I've been reading up on the dr boogey and I'm thinking of building it. But i've seen a few different schemos and it seems some have the mid pot as a 2.2k and others have it at a 22k. Which is correct? Also, since a 2.2k, a 22k, and a 220k for (i think) the treble pot, are hard to find, which values would be good replacements? I have 5k, 250k, and 20k. Would these be good?

Also, I've read mixed reviews for the different layouts available. Which ones are the best?

for dr boogey for gain and vol pot use must 1M pot. But tonestack you use can different pot but you will need correct value cap for correct tone for that can refer ducan tonestack.

I used the layout above and the closest pots I could find.  25k instead of 22k.  2k instead of 2.2k. Etc.  Worked fine for me!

Cool, I figured all that but I haven't recieved my parts yet to test, so I thought I'd ask.

Keep in mind all these parts are to a certain tolerance so its not uncommon to have values off a little bit anyway... I built two of these pedals so far.  One sounds nice and warm and crunchy and the other more cold and sterile.  Socket your FETs and buy a bunch so you can swap them out until you find a set you like.  You can pick up 30 packs of j201's on ebay for a few bucks.

Yeah, I found pretty much the same thing with the BSIAB. I have a couple hundred j201's and loads of other Fets laying around. I like to change out all the fets on a breadboard before I even print out the layout. Sometimes these distortion boxes can sound pretty darn close to each other so it's kinda dumb to build them just because someones mp3 sounds good.
