Anyone used a closed input jack? what does it mean on board? sorry newbie

Has anyone used or had good/bad luck with the Jack, 1/4 in. Neutrik #NYS212 from small bear electronics?  I am getting ready to order a bunch and want to make sure they work well and what it means onboard, i figured they were a ton cheaper then the switchcraft so id better ask

I've used the NMJ6HCD2 PCB mounting type occasionally.
They make it easier to mount the circuit board securely, but laying out the PCB is a bit more difficult.

This was my first attempt:
an Obsidian overdrive, with 3rd gen. millennium bypass.
