When a parts list has metal film box what should i assume it is made from and should i asume radial or axial

Metal Film is a type of Film Capacitor.  Metal Film Caps two common packages.

"Chicklet" Style (Litterally, they look like pieces of chewing gum).  Usually red or green.  Smooth Edges and Corners.

The other Metal Film Cap style is "Box".  These are the smallest, most uniform in size you will find.  I've seen then in all different colors.  Grey, Blue, Red, Yellow, Green, you get the picture.  They are rectangular.  Sharp Edges and Corners like, well, a Box.

Radial/Axial "usually" applies to Electrolytic Caps.  This just means that both leads come out one end, or opposite ends of the cylindrical cap.

There are other Axial Film Caps but they are less common and people usually only use them in mojo fuzz builds, as they are big and bulky.

To be clear, radial means both leads come out one end and axial means one comes out each end.  They both work the same way, its just a matter of what fits on the circuit board better.
