I think most people here have done something with them, lets see your pics! Gutshots are mandatory.

added the range control mod to it (npn boost). i have a mini dpdt toggle on the way which will get mounted in the lower right area. pretty much 5 lbs of sh*t in a 3 lb bag right now, although i could conceivably mount something in the lower left too, probably an ac adapter. it still closes all the way, and i clear coated the top to preserve the .50$ altoids paint job. :icon_lol:

i know i'm polishing a turd but my real boxes aren't here from smallbear. btw, they have some scratched powder coated taiwan bb boxes for cheap in the clear out section right now.

wow, you fit a battery in there!   I'm having trouble putting one in a 1590BB!

me or jeremy?

aziltz

both.  It was a genuine comment.

I had the LED bezels put in the wrong place and I can't fit a battery in a 1590BB.

pazuzu

thanks. i am actually proud of it since i have never undertaken anything like this before.

This wasn't an audio project, but I built a TVBGone from Adafruit into an Altoids tin for a friend of mine. He tested it in a department store, and apparently it was a raging success. He was escorted out! Not my cleanest build, but here goes:

I'd like to incorporate that in to my guitar. I've always hated when bars leave the television on when the band is playing.

Whatever happened to Altoids Peppermints?

Can`t find them anymore in EU-continental countries shops or in-flight or duty-freeshops since > 2 years...  ?

Yes, and the PCB is only $5. The only trouble I've had is that as it cycles through codes, it turns my tv off, then back on. I did try it on many other tv's, and didn't experience that problem. There was some info on how to increase the range (I think its on Adafruit's forums), but I really didn't see the need.

That's a really good idea! It could easily fit inside a guitar. :)

The need for some stereo gear was the catalyst for my starting this solder sniffing adventure so some of my early efforts were headphone amps a la the ubiquitous CMOY in an Altoids tin.

That's museum quality stuff. Where did you find all those great tins?

Hello,
It's been a years since i put those together so things are kinda foggy but... I just bought some Altoids at Shoppers so those are still easy to find. The Fisherman's Friend is a throat lozenge so must have picked them up at some drug store along the way. I think the Dilbert and PMS tins came from Sugar Mountain on Queen West (not there anymore- another casualty of skyrocketing Queen St. rents?) at the time they had a handfull of different candies available in this type of tin. There're some other Sugar Mountain locations still around so you might find some intersting boxes there. Recently found some same size tins in a health food store with Totally Nut Free, Gluten Free, Kosher, Fair Trade Coffee flavored Cafe Express VerMints.

Take care,
dave
