Thanks to RouseJeremy I was turned on to the Random Number Generator as well and happened to have an Altoids tin sitting around.

It was risky going with a stomp switch (was going to use a mini-toggle, but this effect is so crazy I wanted to be able to stomp it on and off at will). This is also my first vero build, so I'm happy it works at all! Here's the result:

A 3pdt battery and LED? Incredible.

That is pretty impressive.  I made an adjustable voltage reference for work, and put it in a Wintergreen Altoids tin.  Gotta take some pics for here.

Does the tin actually support the stomp switch? Did you have to remove the lower nut to get it to fit?

Definitely had to ditch the inner nut on the swich and bend the leads, but otherwise it handles the switch just fine! I don't stomp the crap out of my pedals, but this one holds up well so far.

Ha! My Magnus Modulus didn't quite fit in an altoids tin, so I had to go with this:

I'll see what else I can get in to an Altoids tin next time though.

That's awesome!
I think every build using tins should be posted here.

Awesome idea. This will be my first build.

What product comes in an otter tin?  LOL  However, the eyeball LEDs should have been red for a much more METAL feel  :icon_evil:  Actually, with those eyes, lil fella kinda reminds of the naked blue guy from WATCHMEN  :D

I just made a stereo amplifier for my son's Ipod.  It uses 2 each LM386 IC's.  I did not opt for battery power with this one.

Well, seeing as Jeremy asked for ALL tin builds...here's my newest: Frosty the Clari(not)!

I found the watch tin and couldn't resist. It's a Clari(not) etched by a friend from Madbean's layout. The only mod is the fuzz lift toggle (the yellow "eye" is the fuzz-status LED). Contrary to what I'd read in posts here, the envelope still goes crazy without the fuzz, so the toggle makes it quite versatile. Not a clean sounding pedal by any means (the fuzz covered a lot of the noise), it's still one of the most fun builds I'd done in a while. So many options and it responds very well to picking dynamics.

Thanks to Doug Deeper for posting the schematic and approving various layouts!

do these stand up to stomping OK?

I've been using some of these consistently at shows for about a year or so and so far so good! I actually just added a Bazz Fuss circuit to that Otter I posted earlier for even more stompy-goodness.

depends on how much you weigh.....lol

seriously, I wouldnt trust a tin for stomping.

but I guess its better than leaving it unboxed...lol ;D

Uh oh, looks like I'm in trouble then, as here's a sampling of what I gig with regularly (some of these have been all over Canada with me too...never had a problem). I think it's all in the tin choice--just don't use something that feels flimsy:

BoxOfSnoo

I have a "staging box" - a mini Spider-Man lunchbox from the dollar store.  I use it before I commit the effect to an enclosure.  What I did to give me some confidence was cut the center disc out of one of those blank CD/DVD spindle fillers, and use it as a washer to spread the pressure around when I stomp on it.

So far so good, though I haven't tried to stress it out too much.
My Dropbox referral link - bonus 250MB of space for both of us if you use it

Actually I was referring to the altoids style tins, and in a joking manner.
The sturdyness relates more to the switch placement on the tin itself.  A switch placed closer to the edge will be sturdier, while the placement of the switch in the center of the tin will be more likely to flex the tin when you STOMP on it....not step on it
The problem with this is that when you step on that edge mounted switch the whole pedal may just flip up towards you....
just my 2 cents.
