Jason Lollar wrote a book about pickup winding. I've been trying to track it down myself.

Jasons book is ok, but its very basic. Its not work more than $20, but currently fetches $200.

I have Jason's book.  It's no big deal unless you are a complete beginner and don't know what you are searching.  All the necessary info for building pickups is on the net.

The pickup makers forum on the Music Electronics Forum has a wealth of experience among the regulars there.  Those folks are pretty generous with their knowledge too.
