Anybody use RG's 2 transistor polarity protection?

It seems like a good, simple power solution, but I haven't seen it incorporated in any projects.  I think this will be going into my pedals from now on.
It's described here: http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/cheapgoodprot.htm

How is the size of the 4M7 resistor determined?  Would a 1M resistor work here?

I use it in a really large build a while back; it works really well.  I remember testing by putting something like 18-24volts of the wrong polarity through it and it worked great.  I think it spat out -.5 volts on the other side.  Hardly enough to do any damage in most situations.

As far as the 4M7 goes, I'm not sure, but I think that the PNP might stay 'on' when it's supposed to shut off if the value of the resistor isn't high enough.  The value might be overkill, but I doubt it.  I'd use a 4M7.
