What's the best way to go about this? I was attempting Thomas P's Ring mod with the +/-15v. I'm using this supply http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/pdf/ggg_bipolar_ps.pdf. What's the best way to hook up the PS and the effect PCB using a 3PDT?

Forgot to mention I was planning on using the momentary/latching switch set up I saw on here.. http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=53249.0

The power supply goes right to the effect board. Leave it powered all evening. When the beer runs out, either put a switch in the transformer primary leads (observe line-power safety!!), or just pull the plug and go home.

Cutting the effect in and out is a whole different thing, usually done by switching the audio (yes, leaving the effect circuit powered-up).

Perhaps the problem i'm having is with my breadboarding then. The idea was to switch the effect in and out. I'm using a true bypass set up. The status LED lights up when its turned on but there's no sound, and there's no sound when the effect is bypassed. I've checked it over a couple of times and unless i'm missing something it seems right. Is this something to do with using a bipolar supply and the wrong switching method?

Doh *smacks Head*. Broken lead. It bypasses fine. Still no effect though, just an incredibly loud humming type sound which the pots and trimmers have no effect on. Any suggestions?

Probably not an effect problem, as you found...

> Broken lead. It bypasses fine.

Did the effect work -before- you added the bypass?

In my experience, you still have a broken or missing lead somewhere. Done it myself so many times that I wear a hat to protect me from "Doh *smacks Head*".

Arf. Yeah i should get one of those hats i think. Sorted out the humming, loose ground connection. I still haven't managed to get the effect to work however. What i'm getting is a really gated sound, and i had to crank up the volume on my practice amp to even hear it. Used an audio probe and the signal is ok going into pin 3 of the first TL072, on pins 1 and 2 i'm getting the afore mentioned gated sound. I read through the geofex debug page on this very issue, and i'll check the pin voltages ASAP. One question, I put the +/- supplies on the op amps to +/-15v on the power supply, should the - supply have gone to 0v? Apologies for the possibly stupid questions. Really appreciate your help here.
