How do you wire two pots and a two color LED to a footswitch?

Thanks!

Usually pots get wired to the PCB of your effect, and if it's a two colour LED I'm fairly certain you wire it the same as you would a regular LED.

generally I use the wiring from Page 5 of 6 on tonepad's wiring page:

I'm not entirely sure where I was supposed to go with that link...

Basically, I'm trying to put two pots on a footswitch to be able to switch between two different gain settings on an overdrive.

Weird... okay. I tried the link again, and this time it sent me into the PDF, where as last time it sent me to the tonepad website on some random page...

what is the result you want to obtain? pots are for...?
Only those who attempt the absurd will achieve the impossible.

If I understand right, you have two different value pots you want to use to switch between two different values of gain pot, one for more and one for less gain. From there you want a two color LED to indicate which gain setting is activated. Correct?  I will draw a diagram up and get back to you in a bit.

Alright here's part of it at least.

Gain Lug 1 CB is where you originally had Gain Lug 1 going on the circuit board and likewise Gain lug 2+3 is where you had the others going on the circuit board (assuming you are using the pot as a variable resistor).
The rest is pretty self explanatory, if it still doesn't make sense just let me know.

CORRECTION

I originally had this backwards...

As for the LED, you would need a 3PDT switch, and everything would be the same but the added third column. I am guessing you would put the two shorter leads of the LED to the top and bottom lugs of the last column and attach  the middle lug of the switch to a current limiting resistor. Then the center lead of the LED would connect to Ground. Again not completely sure about the LED part, but the part in the picture should work fine.

No, two of the same pots. I just want to be able to switch between to settings without having to bend down and turn the knob.

Thanks for the diagram! That makes perfect sense, and I'm sure I coulda figured that out if I'd had the patience  :icon_mrgreen:

Kearns892

Glad I could help, does the LED part make sense?

cpm

it will probably work switching only one side of the pots, this is not a "true-bypass" switching where everything must be detached from the circuit path

Kearns892

Thats true, Gain Lugs 2+3 of the pots could always be connected to the circuit board switching only the first lug between 1 and 2. This would allow you to use  a DPDT stomp switch instead.
