Ruby weird sound...

I built a ruby. At first it was doing a weird tracking/oscillating thing (oscillation did not appear until you played a note, oscillation sort of followed the note you play like a poorly tracking octave effect). Then I tried replacing a couple components and bridged across a couple points accidentally with the power on.

When I got everything back in order, the oscillation was gone, but instead, it has very little output and sounds very fuzzy and weak.

I checked voltages against another ruby that I have that is working fine, and all the DC voltages are more or less the same at all points.

I didn't socket the transistor or 386, like an idiot. Where would you start? Transistor? 386?
