Hi,

I'm searching for a schematic of the old Vox "Mid Range Boost".
Here is a description of this pedal (?) in case you don't know what I'm talking about:

"...the VOX MRB was the predecessor to what we know as the Wah-Wah pedal. MRB did the same thing as a Wah-Wah as far as emphasizing mid range frequencies. The difference was it did it in three fixed distinct settings. This idea was later adapted to the sweeping frequency shift of a potentiometer on a Wah-Wah pedal."

It was used extensively by The Beatles to get that distinct boxy sound

So it was Wah Wah but with three fixed settings. Is there a schematic? Has anyone DIY'd this?

Thanks! ;)

this was built into vox amps, it was never a pedal effect as far as i know.

I think Doug is right - it was an amp built-in for the Thomas Vox amps and the UK Vox Supreme/Conqueror/Defiant and 715/730/760/7120 series, maybe others.

But the simple thing to do is to order one of Small Bear's "Wild Mouse" pedals. These do the same sound, albeit with a different circuitry.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
