Condor Question - Has Anybody Tried Omitting the JFET?

Good day, folks! I would very much like to build a condor cab simulator, but I'm not too keen on the idea of the "speaker distortion" thing. I was thinking of omitting the j201 altogether, and just connect them directly (I wouldn't put the trimpot, too). :) Does this seem like a good idea? I'm afraid that I might overdrive the first opamp stage and cause unpleasant clipping. Really hoping for somebody else's opinion. Thanks! :)

You may omit the JFET stage, however you still need a buffer since the bridged-tee network that follows calls for it.  For instance, you could try a tube screamer emitter follower buffer.

In addition, signal level will drop below unity, so you should convert U1A into a non-inverting gain stage set for a gain of 3 or so, depending on how hot is your guitar.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply, sir. :) Whoops there seems to be a slight misunderstanding, what I meant was that I was planning to connect r1 to c1 directly, without including the j201. I'm actually going to be using a distortion pedal right before the cab simulator, sorry I forgot to mention that. Will the volume drop considerably even then? Would the bridged-tee network still need a buffer given that it won't be directly connected to the guitar but rather to a distortion pedal's output? Thanks a lot! :)
