Hello, I'm somewhat of a beginner in the world of stompbox building. I've built a few kits from byoc but haven't yet done any projects from someone else's layout. I wanted to do an OCD clone, and this was the best layout I could find:

However, it is somewhat unclear. Why is there a solder pad next to both the "IN" and "OUT" pads? Are they just supposed to be connected to ground? Also, it shows the LP/HP switch, but i cant tell where the leads go. Can anyone either explain this to me better or suggest a better layout? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Solder pads: Yes, they are on the ground trace. Connect the one next to the input connection to the input jack sleeve. The other one can be used if your output jack isn't mounted directly to a metal enclosure.

HP/LP: This is a SPST toggle switch, so one wire goes to one lug and the other wire to the other lug. There's nothing fancy happening here, it's just either open or closed.

If you follow those pads beside the In and Out you'll notice that the 'ground' trace of your PCB goes around the two sides and bottom of the PCB. This is a common ground configuration, and the extra pads there are places for you to ground things together. If you were to use shielded cabling for instance, these pads would be really useful. You don't HAVE to use them, but they are useful if you want to connect the jacks to the board.

Looks like a good, easy to follow layout to me.

input jack sleeve

I mean ring - I'm always getting the names of those two muddled up. Never a problem soldering as I'm going by what they look like!
