I have seen PNP Ge neg. ground and pos. ground
I have seen NPN Ge
I have seen PNP Si neg. ground and pos. ground
I have seen NPN Si
I have seen Hot Silicon
I have seen an IC one too!!!

Someone asked me to build the one you can find at Macari, which is claimed to use 3 Si trannies building. Can someone shred a light in the dark waters of that ocean of different designs?! Which one should I use?! I need the Macari version!!!

I have seen 2 layouts of the jumbo, with bc550 or bc184c - which of those two types should I use?!

Right. They cloned a late version of that pedal which contained the Jumbo Tone Bender circuit. That's the one which was also used in the Barnes & Mullins Fuzz Unit (of Edwyn Collins fame ), the CMI Fuzz Unit, the G.B. Fuzz and the Pro Traffic Fuzz.
I haven't seen too many pictures of actual Jumbos yet, but the ones I have seen had the BC184Cs. That's also what the factory schematic calls for.

Are you sure that it's this one you're supposed to clone? David Main (of D*A*M) is making the Professional MKII for Macari's now (they're using the right enclosure for these )

I see that BC547 can be a good substitute for those BC184. I have some 547, no 184...

I saw a B&M one in a recording stodio once. It definately had BC184Cs in it. Great sounding fuzz and I'd imagine that the 547s will sound the same as I've made triangle big muffs with both types and the jumbo tone bender circuit is very similar.
