Which wah buffer??

Ive already built the fuzzcentral/tonepad output buffer after my vox wah. But ithink that the .047 cap is thinning it out. Maybe its me. But im still not quitr satisfied with the result. The wah was stronger when placed after my dirt boxes. Itsounds more natural before but the wah is less pronounced and almost unnoticable before my ultimate octave or big muff.

The buffer suggested at home-wrecker has .22 caps. A mosfet. Would this be better? I dont have the mosfet rite now, plus ive hot glued the jfet buffer onto the chassi so itd be a pain to switch and experiment.

Heres the mosfet buffer:

Hi,

There are some things you could do:
- increase the value of that input cap
- use the home-wrecker buffer
- use Jack Ormans buffer: http://www.muzique.com/news/wah-pedal-buffer/
He explains, why it´s better than the tonepad buffer. The advantage is that you can build it on any pcb for the tonepad buffer, you just need two more holes for the additional resistor.

I use Ormans buffer with very good results. To make the wah work with a fuzz face even better, I added R.G. Keens pickup simulation (with tone and volume pots) after the buffer and made both circuits switchable. http://www.muzique.com/lab/pickups.htm

Thanks. My options are a little limited right now since i cant drill through the shell.

I was so generous with the hot glue that i cant change the input cap, i just gotta ripthe whole thing out!

I'm interested in building Orman's Wah Buffer on his ready-made board, but wondering if it will fit easily inside a wah.  It is 1.3"x1.5".  Has anyone done this and put it in a wah?  Where did you fit it?

Here's a pic from Fuzz Central of the wah buffer placement:

ugh wish i woulda put it there

I built the Orman buffer into mine. I used a .22 cap for the input though. Im happy with it. Its better than the normal tonepad one. Im sure now, that the problem I was having with the Ultimate Octave was the fuzz itself, not the wah. I dunno why mine doesnt work well with it.

Thanks for that pic.  I was aware that the board usually goes there, just unsure if the Orman board would fit.  Guess I should just measure inside my wah and see if it has 1.3" of height available for the board!

Thanks,
Al

The foxrox wah buffer is a good one, if you do a search on the other stompbox place then there is a schem and layouts etc

roseblood11

Why not make a small veroboard layout for the Orman buffer...?

All i can find is a. Premade unit on the foxrox site.
