Hi where in the circuit would i link up a volume pot on my guitar pedals? A lot of my pedals would benifit from having volume controls and Im not exactly sure how to accomplish this. I assume it would not be the same for every pedal but are there some general guidelines for this?
Thanks for any help,
Andy.

A pot with the 3 pin connected to the out put wire and pin 1 to ground with pin 2 now acting as the output to the output socket should do the trick.

like this?
also if i want the output when the pot is fully clockwise to be louder than the original output, would i include a cap or something?
thanks by the way

Pin 3 and 2 should not be connected. just disconnect them and you are good to go.

And no adding a cap wouldnt increase the volume. The only way of increasing the original volume of the output would be to increase gain somewhere else in the circuit, as far as I am aware.

Ah ok thanks. could i just add an npn booster circuit to the output wire? will this work?

Hupla

I dont see why it wouldnt work. Or you could just build the booster and have it after the pedal you want to use. you can use the boost as the volume control id say. Theres no harm in trying it and seeing if it solves ur problem. At least you know now how to add a volume control if you need to.
