I imagine a mod got involved.

I priced parts from both PPP and Smallbear, depending on the part. Didn't include shipping, graphics or taxes and it came out to $27 and change. This would be on perf, a PCB would add to the price.

the red llamma??

Its good. I like it. You can get every part for it besides the chip and the stomp switch at radio shack if you're on a budget. They have an aluminum enclosure there now, but i just use the plastic boxes. You'd save on the shipping. You just gotta be carefull which packages you buy. Radioshack can really stick it to ya with the price gouging. Ive built all my pedals with stuff from radioshack, mainly the enclosures.

Does the tone suffer from using Radioshack components compared to better quality ones?

El Heisenberg

no. The radioshack components are just as cheap. You could order premium ones from smallbear. I think they have the 1% resistors at radioshack too.

I dont THINK it will suffer. Of course i cant say for sure since all of my projects are built with half of the components lifted from radioshack. But they do jack the prices WAY up (5.00 for a mini SPDT switch), so unless you're going to stuff everything in your pants only buy from radioshack for simple stuff like the WHRL.  But if you are getting the 4049 chip youll prolly be buying from smallbear anyway.

Stratoblaster is good too.
