flashing led's

wondering if anyone knows a simple circuit that will cause 1 or more led's to flash when a note is played.

Look up LM3915 at National Semiconductor.
They are used for building VU meters mainly.
Deception does not exist in real life, it is only a figment of perception.

Could just build an opamp circuit and set the quiescent gain at a threshold just a tad lower than the LED turn-on voltage.  That way, an input signal would light 'er up.  Pretty simple, depends on what you want to do with the flashy LED and how many you need....
