So I'm building a dr boogey and what type of input/output jacks do I need?  Mono or stereo?  Yeesh, seems like a dumb question but I really don't know.  I think mono, right?

If you're using a battery, you'll want one mono and one stereo to switch battery power when not in use. If you plan on making it DC-only, then mono works fine.

Since you're already putting an order into PPP, I recommend their marshall-style switching jacks (the black plastic ones). They're very nice, and relatively easy to understand.

  Mono is easiest to understand.
Switching and stereo, various things and a size that is so so close to 1/4'' standard, you almost have to find out whats the problem and why 'this' is the wrong jack, or study jacks better than the 'guy I know' who values having found out why it is [what it is about the jacks] he bought the wrong jacks if only for the painful learning experience.
Tip Ring Sleeve is pretty cool, 3 conductors for various wiring assignments and jobs:
Mono 1/4'' input jack out = battery disconnect [a common pedal 'trick' can be on output jack of course, it uses the long sleeve of the mono Plug, to connect across the Jack's ring/sleeve, or disconnect ground through those contacts.
Many other possible wiring assignments such as for balanced input [3 conductor].
Switching jacks [connect the tip to sleeve when any 1/4'' rod-like object such as a guitar plug is inserted] are commonly assigned for amp inputs, pulling the plug out, the jack tip/switch connects through a ground wire or maybe the chassis.
On most older Jacks, the sleeve sometimes connects to the chassis or enclosure panel for ground.
The DMM is the sure-fire way to get familiar with jacks, a plug [in both inserted and pulled positions] is required for some of the tests, a typical guitar cable will suffice, identifying the steps necessary for each test for the particular application is the tricky' part, as 'that guy' can tell you when trying to figure out the jack wiring for something, starting, unknowingly, with the wrong type of jacks.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Sorry Aron--I knew he was already ordering from PPP, or the store would've been my first suggestion!  :icon_biggrin:

ghost--anything you get from the forum store supports the site, and the items are top notch :)
