I'm planing on building a Rocktave Divider but I'm thinking of not using any 4013 but using 3 4017 with a rotary switch and a level pot each.  I was also wondering if there was a way to add a level pot for the straight signal? (Would that be useful anyways?)

Dose turning down the Fuzz pot really gets rid of the fuzz and gives you a clean sound? If not, how could I do that?

Any expert opinions out there?

Thanks

Hi,

In my opinion, the shin-ei octave box sounds cleaner and better, and is easier to build.

Maybe you should give it a look, the schematic is lying around the net.

cheers

Thanks for the input John will check it out.

Just spent my lunch hour with Mark Hammer, I know, I know, I'm blessed!  :icon_redface:

I'm going with only one 4017 (like the article suggests) but I will add a pot to control the clean signal.

Thanks again Mark.

I recently breadboarded Rocktave, doing quite a bit of tweaking.

1)a way to add a level pot for the straight signal? (Would that be useful anyways?)
A. Add a 10k pot after c8. I think one side must got to 4.5v instead of ground. I think it is useful.

2) Dose turning down the Fuzz pot really gets rid of the fuzz and gives you a clean sound? If not, how could I do that?
NO, turning down the fuzz, turns down the fuzz of straight sound.  The octave down is still square (fuzzy).  The tone control will actually smooth it out a bit.
